WHAT IS THE US ARMY COMBAT FITNESS TEST (ACFT)?

The Army Combat Fitness test (ACFT) replaces the Army Physical Fitness test (APFT) as the capstone of basic training. This physically demanding test is designed to test the limits of a recruit's core, upper body, and leg muscles.

THE US ARMY PHYSICAL FITNESS UNIFORM (APFU)

The rigorous 50-minute field test consists of a 2-mile run, standing power throw, sprint/drag/carry, leg tuck, strength deadlift, and hand-release pushups. Recruits who pass the ACFT go on to become full-fledged members of the US Army.

A UNIFORM FOR EVERY SEASON

Physical training takes place year-round, rain or shine. The APFU is an adaptable uniform system that can accommodate changing seasons. This system consists of 5 basic pieces:

APFU shirts are solid black with the word "ARMY" printed in high-contrast yellow lettering across the chest. Both the Army Short Sleeved PT Shirt and the Army Long Sleeved PT Shirt have regulation crew necks, taped seams, tagless labels, and are extremely breathable.

APFU bottoms consist of a pair of breathable Army PT Shorts with an adjustable waist and modesty liner. For cooler weather, the shorts can be switched out for a pair of Army PT Pants with a 1/4 inch zipper at each cuff for easy donning and doffing over footwear.
